Tumwater Canyon is located close to Leavenworth Town, within thirty minutes away from Wenatchee. The river run starts from Tumwater campground to Leavenworth. It is 7.5 mi/12 km long, with a class 5 difficulty level for normal flows and range from 850 to 6000 c.f.s.
The river is ideal for advanced kayak enthusiasts and is considered to be one of the best white water kayak destination in Washington. The river starts out with good class 3 rapids, but the action begins once you cross the old hydroelectric dam.
You will run through fun continuous boulder garden rapids, holes and one of the longest class 5 rapids, called Chaos Cascade. Prepare to get wet in fresh, crystal clear cold water, take your gear with you, or plan an organized river trip and enjoy a fantastic white water kayak experience into the wild nature of Cascades.
