Colchuck Balanced Rock is located above the Colchuck Lake at the Eastern end of the Stuart Range. In order to approach the West Face Route, follow the Aasgard Pass until you get at 400 ft/120 m above the lake and hike through the dense bushes towards the gully.
The top elevation of the rock is at 8200 ft/2499 m, suitable for climbing from June to September. The skill level required for this climb is grade III, class 5,12, perfect for advanced rock climbers. The granite rock offers a difficult crack climb on a steep wall with nine pitches. It is a great alpine rock climb, but it is loose in some sections.
Once you reach the top, you can admire the amazing views of the Alpine Lakes and the surrounding summits. Colchuck Balanced Rock is an amazing and rewarding experience for rock climbers. You will need a medium to large crack and a 196 ft/60 m rope with you.
