Cashmere Mountain is located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and is one of the highest peaks in the Icicle Creek drainage. The top elevation of the mountain is at 8501 ft/2591 m and is suitable for climbing from May to September.
In order to approach West Ridge Route, you hike up the Eightmile Lake and Caroline Lake trails and continue up the Windy Pass Trail. The length of this route is 17 mi/27 km long, (out and back) with not many technical difficulties but a good physical condition is important. Its top can be reached in one day, but in order to experience a true outdoor adventure, it is best to spend the night over and enjoy nature.
Cashmere Mountain offers a great rocky climb with some easy scrambling sections and amazing views of the Cascade Mountains. Once you reach the top which is a small, pyramid shape rock, head down from the same route. Take with you a helmet, sun glasses and sunscreen. If you visit Cashmere Mountain in early season you will need an ice axe and crampons.
