The Illes Medes (in Catalan) or Ilsas Medas (in Spanish) is a wonderful small group of seven islets in the northwest Mediterranean Sea. They are situated east of the coastal town of L'Estartit.

Flagstaff is an excellent shallow dive, on the harbor side of North Head. The maximum depth is about 12 m/39 ft and it is appropriate for less experienced divers. Water temperature is up to 21°C/69.8°F degrees in summer and early autumn months and between 14-18°C/57.2-64.4°F in winter.
The visibility here is a little below average. As you dive north you are able to see port jackson sharks, cuttlefish, weedy sea dragons, stingrays and blind sharks. Finally, lucky divers may come across with a fairy penguin as the colony is close by. Apart from diving, there is a variety of activities, attractions, restaurants and bars available along Sydney’s northern peninsula.
