Vilamoura is a tourist destination, located on the Algarve coast, specifically laid in the municipality of Loule in the Algarve. It is approximately 24.5km/15mi from Faro, the southernmost city in Portugal. It is the largest tourist group in Europe and well known for its opulence. You can find art galleries, roman ruins, museums such as Cerro da Vila. You can also come close to the nature and the lushness of deep forest with pine trees.
Kite-surfing has been described as the combination of surfing, windsurfing, wake-boarding, paragliding and gymnastics, all these into one extreme sport. So, if you want a breathtaking experience of kite-surfing, you should visit Vilamoura. The beach of Vilamoura is long and sandy and really clean. A jetty protects this less crowded beach. Because of the weather and the good climate, Vilamoura offers the right conditions for kite-surfing.
In summers there are waves with swell size from 1.5 to 4 ft (0.5- 1.3 m) and the wind blows offshore at 4%. The temperature in summer is at around 28°C/82.40°F. In autumn the waves swell size is from 1.5-4 ft (0.5-1.3 m) to 6.5-10 ft (2-3 m), and the wind blows offshore at 6%. In winter the wave swell size is between 6.5-10 ft (2-3 m), but sometimes there are waves with swell size more than 10 ft (>3 m).
The wind blows offshore at 5% and the temperature is around 15°C/59°F. In spring the wave swell size is 1.5-4 ft (0.5-1.3 m) and the wind blows offshore at 8%. The beach is appropriate for all kind of kite-surfers. There are kite-surfing schools that can give you the opportunity to feel the adrenaline and the beauty of the Atlantic ocean.
