The metropolitan area of Adelaide is famous for the variety and great number of diving sites it has to offer (you can visit here some of the most impressive shipwrecks in the whole world). The waters have the perfect temperature for scuba diving (warm during the summer and crystal clear during the winter), and are generally friendly and uncrowded.
Aldinga Pinnacles (part of the Aldinga reef system but a lot closer to the shore) is one of the most impressive diving sites near Adelaide, with many rock pinnacles rising up from the sandy sea bottom. The marine life is truly extraordinary in variety and quantity.
Be prepared to see large schools of harlequins, drummers, sweeps, old wives, bullseyes, leather jackets and Blue Devils. You can access the site either from the O’ Sullivan Boat Ramp or from the Southern Part of Aldinga Beach. Average viz: 15 m/49 ft. Maximum depth: 10 m/32 ft.
Note: Do not dive in the months November to March, as the large schools of snappers traveling towards the North attract many white pointer sharks.

The Wallaroo Jetty is one of Australia's longest jetties and is heavily used. Wallaroo is located at around 155 km/96 mi in the northwest of Adelaide. It was the discovery of copper in the late 1880s that led to the settlement. Wallaroo makes part as one of the three towns which form the Copper Triangle.
