Indonesia or the Republic of Indonesia is an archipelago, comprising about 17508 tropical islands. It nestles between the continents of Asia and Oceania and is washed by the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Bali is one of the most famous islands of Indonesia.
Uluwatu beach is one of the best and most popular surf spots in Bali, providing totally epic waves, that are reserved for experienced surfers only. It is situated in South Kuta District, at the southern end of the island. Its name derived from the Uluwatu Temple, an ancient Hindu Temple dedicated to the spirits of the sea, that is set on the cliff bank, right above the beach.
This location is visited by numbers of tourists, as it offers stunning views to the Indian Ocean, especially in the afternoon when one can stare at the sunset. The site features fast, powerful and barrel waves that challenge you to use your top skills and experience.
The swell size starts working at 1 m/3 ft and holds up to 4 m/12 ft. The reef break works best on dry season, especially from April to August. In addition, the ideal tide position is all tides. The optimum wind direction is from the southeast and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest. At summer the wind blows onshore 65%, at autumn it blows 23%, at winter 1.3% and at spring 27%.
Last but not least, be careful of rocks. So, Uluwatu beach is the ultimate spot for pro-surfers!
