Lisbon is a global city and extremely popular for many reasons. One of them is the endless beaches, where many extreme sports take place. Surfing dominates many beaches and Adraga beach is one of the top!!
The beach is not so easy to find and you need a car to get there. After you park your car, another 5-15 minutes of walking and you arrive to the exact spot. The word that better describes the atmosphere there is insane! The wave breaks regularly and along with the regional classic wave quality, this place attracts experienced surfers that want to ride these incredible waves.
Hollow, fast, powerful and ledgey waves give a length of less than 50 m/164 ft on normal days and up to 150 m/492 ft on good days. The point-break wave type with excellent right and left direction disturbs the sandy with rocks bottom.
Best conditions are formed when the wind blows from the south, southeast or east and the swell comes from the north, northwest, west or northeast. Usually, the swell starts working at less than 1 m/3 ft and holds up to 2+ m/6+ ft. The spot works good on low and mid tides and the best movement is rising tides.
Although the place is pretty popular, there are only few surfers on week days, but at weekends, it gets very crowded. Dangers include rocks and localism. Adraga in general is great, so all you have to do is try it yourself!!
