When translating Cheget from the Balkar, it means north and Mount Cheget is popular for its northern slopes. The snow on Mount Cheget remains fluffy for much longer time than on Elbrus, because the sun doesn’t touch the spot at all or not for long.
Most of the starting points of routes begin from the chairlift and then go further along the ridge. If you want to freeride on Cheget, keep in mind that you have to walk about 2 hours.
Snowboarding on the Cheget slopes is something unique and amazing. The two main snowboarding areas on Cheget are the south that is more easy and the north, which is more steep. The nature of the terrain features a forest, snow fields, couloirs and avalanche cones.
The slope is 20 to 40 degrees and from the total of 17 trails, 2 are for novices, 5 for intermediate, 5 for advanced and 5 for experts. You can reach these slopes by using the chairlift or one of the 3 T-Bar lifts.
