Goa is one of the most visited and famous places in India since the 60's. Located on the West Coast of the country and fronted by the Arabian Sea, it boasts an amazing coastline with sandy beaches, as well as rich landscapes and tropical forests. Once a Portuguese colony, Goa is an interesting blend of cultures and architectures and is considered to be one of the hotspot destinations in the world for both party goers and spiritual seekers.

Mhadei River is located within Sattari Taluka, on the north east side of Goa and is nestled in the Western Ghats mountain range. The area is a hidden gem, concerning the biodiversity of its eco systems, fresh water rivers and streams and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, hosting an enormous variety of flowering plants, mammals, birds and amphibian species.

When the south west monsoon season is on, from early June until late September, the hills and valleys surrounding the river work as a drainage system and big amounts of rain water rush into the river, forming the Mhadei River System. This is a relatively new spot for white water rafting in India and due to its amazing location, it is becoming a favorite destination for water sports enthusiasts.

The starting point of this adventure is located close to Valpoi town in Ustem Village and ends in Sonal Village. Suitable for both beginner and advanced rafters, the route you follow is 6.2 mi/10 km long and has class II to III difficulty. The route has many and exciting waves that provide lots of bouncing fun, as well as many rapids that keep the adrenaline going.

There are schools operating on the spot and provide all the necessary gear, as well as transportation for your rafting adventures. Keep in mind that the area is a national park and it is important to keep noise levels low, so as not to disturb the wildlife.
