Dalkey Quarry is situated in the picturesque suburb of Dalkey, approximately 13 km/8 mi south of Dublin. This disused quarry is considered to be one of the best rock-climbing crags in Ireland. The spot consists of granite and it has about 300 climbs. All of the climbs are high grade, trad routes and most of them are single-pitch.
Note that, it is suitable for climbers of all levels, as there are training centers that provide courses for beginners. In addition, the highest route climbing is 30 m/98.4 ft high, offering great panoramic views of Dublin city and Dublin Bay. It should be mentioned that, the site is part of a public park, the Killiney Hill Park, so there is no entrance fee. The optimum period to visit Dalkey Quarry is during summer. Last but not least, Dalkey offers a number of pubs to relax and share your experience with other climbers.
