Maximum swell size:
6-10 ft (2-3 m)
Peniche is a seaside township in Portugal. It has a large harbor and it is well known as a fishing town. It's worth to visit the famous impressive 16th century fortress. It was used as a prison by the secret police of dictator Salazar, where political opponents were jailed.

You should also visit the baroque Misericordia Church in the main square, where you can admire the fantastic painted ceiling with scenes from the new testament.

Peniche is known for its long, sandy and windy beaches and that’s why it is the perfect spot for body-boarding. So if you want to feel the strong and fast waves tickling your body, take your board and visit Peniche.

In summer the waves are with swell size 4-6.5 ft (1.3-2 m) most of the time and the wind blows onshore 85%. In autumn, winter and spring the waves are with swell size 6.5-10 ft (2-3 m) and the wind blows onshore 63%, 58% and 73% respectively. The breaks are staring in 3 distinctly different directions making it the best destination for those who the adrenaline ruins through their veins.

In Peniche there are other activities that you can enjoy in your spare time and of course lots of accommodation options.
