The Overberg is a region of immense beauty and characterized by amazing and diverse landscapes. It forms part of the Western Cape as it stretches from the Hottentos-Holland Mountains in the north while in the southern, the Atlantic and Indian Ocean break on to sandy beaches and rocky headlands. The spot enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm dry summers and cool wet winters.
Montagu is a rock climber’s paradise with a stunning and thrilling climbing experience. The spot offers breathtaking scenery within a tranquil natural environment. The spot offers easy to muscle pumping overhanging routes. Most of the climbing is single pitch however there are some muti-pitch on sand stone.
Difficulty level here is moderate and graded between 7-35. Classics here include, “Magical Mystery Tour”(19), “Another Day in Paradise”(21) and “Burnt By The Sun”(23). Climbing here is an all year round activity with so many crags and it is always possible to find some shade.
