Johnson Ridge Trail is located on the Cascade Mountains, close to Mount Baker. It is 8.2 mi/13 km long, out and back and has an elevation gain of 2380 ft/725 m. The best time to bike this trail is during summer to early fall. This ride is not suitable for beginners because it has a lot of uphill climbing and technical difficulties such as steep rocky terrain, rocks and roots and a vertical climb.
Even for an advanced biker, this is a very challenging trail and requires perfect physical condition. Once you reach the end of the trail at 5400 ft/1645 m, the views are unbelievable and the downhill with lots of fun. Johnson Ridge Trail is a must for those who take mountain bike seriously. Don’t forget to take with you plenty of water, energy snacks, a map and a compass.
