Outer Banks, also known as OBX, is a 200 mi/322 km long string of narrow barrier islands of the coast of North Carolina. A small portion of it extends further in Virginia, at the beginning of the southern corner of Virginia Beach, on the east coast of the United States. The beach of Vilamoura is long and sandy and really clean. Because of the weather and the good climate, Vilamoura offers the right conditions for wake-boarding.

In autumn the waves swell size is from 1.5-4 ft (0.5-1.3 m) to 6.5-10 ft (2-3 m), and the wind blows offshore at 6%. In winter the wave swell size is between 6.5-10 ft (2-3 m), but sometimes there are waves with swell size more than 10 ft (>3 m). The wind blows offshore at 5% and the temperature is around 15°C/59°F. During spring the wave swell size is 1.5-4 ft (0.5-1.3 m) and the wind blows offshore at 8%.
