Ponta Do Ouro is the southernmost village in Mozambique and is a popular holiday destination. It lies on the Mozambique Channel, southern of Maputo and just northern of the border with South Africa. Ponta Do Ouro boasts pristine beaches and is well known for its long stretches of white beaches. There are no tarred roads, therefore it is only accessible by 4x4 vehicles.
Ponta Do Ouro provides with amazing conditions for surfing for both the novice and the expert surfer. Good wind direction, crystal clear waters and world class waves are the main contributors to this stunning adventure.
The swell direction is north-west with swells holding up to 3 m/10 ft and right point-break waves which range between 300-500 m/984-1640 ft in length. The surf here is fun and best ridden during low and mid tide.
The best time to practice surfing here is during the early winter that is from April to August.
