Isla Verde is a wonderful tourist resort with many accommodation options along the coastline and a variety of restaurants, bars and shops in a short walk from the beach. Pine Grove is located in Isla Verde and is considered to be an excellent surf spot for beginners, because of its short length and well-formed waves.
The swell sizes usually start from 1 m-1.5 m/3 ft-5 ft and can hold up to 2 m/6 ft. The site provides very consistent surf and is suitable for surfers of all levels. The best tide position is mid and high tide and the best tide movement is rising tide. In addition, the optimum wind direction is from the south and the ideal swell direction is from the north and northwest. It should be mentioned that Pine Grove offers both left and right hand waves.
If you hate beach crowds, then you should visit this place on weekdays. Last but not least, Puerto Rico has a great number of surf schools, in case you want to learn the basics or improve your technique. Note: be careful of urchins and buoys.
