Puerto Rico is situated in the northeastern Caribbean and consists of an archipelago that includes the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller islands. The climate here is classified as tropical marine climate, with an average temperature of 82.4°F/ 28°C, throughout the year. Although it is a small island, the smallest island of the Greater Antilles, Puerto Rico provides superb natural surroundings, countless adventure experiences and many places of historical interest.

Tocones is located next to the Aviones surf spot, in Pinones, a beautiful area, just a short drive from San Juan. Tocones is a reef break that provides very consistent surf and both left and right hand waves.

The swell sizes usually start from less than 1 m/3 ft and hold up to 5 m/16 ft and over. In addition, the best tide position is all tides and the optimum wind direction is from the south and southwest. The ideal swell direction is from the north and northwest. The site is suitable for surfers of all levels. If you hate beach crowds, then you should visit Tocones on weekdays.

Apart from surfing, you can make a day trip in Pinones, where you will witness wonderful natural surroundings with dense forests and taste delicious dishes from the local cuisine in relaxing atmosphere. Last but not least, the island caters a great number of surf schools, in case you want to learn the basics or improve your technique. Note: be careful of rocks.
