This is justified, because it is indeed a beach of natural beauty with good quality sand and a spectacular view of the ocean, once you look down the dunes of sand that surround the long beach of Cahoon Hollow. You won’t see a lot of families here, mostly young people who are here for the surf and the Beachcomber, a seaside bar and restaurant serving great food and cocktails.
You are most likely to find good surfing conditions here all year round, but it would be best to bring your wetsuit with you to avoid the cold water. When the weather conditions are mild and there isn’t too much wind, beginners can train here but when rougher conditions prevail, it is ideal for experienced surfers.
Good wind direction is North, East, Northeast and West and swell can come from all directions, best being the West with size that starts building at less than 1 m/3 ft and can reach up to 2.5 m/8 ft. If you like the crowd, you should visit Cahoon Hoollow during weekends and summer is considered to be the high season with a lot of tourists driving to Wellfleet for the beach.
There are plenty of places to stay or eat in Wellfleet, a lot of which serve good sea food and their specialty is the oyster, which is famous in the area.
