Kirkwood Mountain Resort is a year round resort in Kirkwood, south of Lake Tahoe, in El Dorado County, California, USA. Kirkwood is at 33 mi/53 km south of South Lake Tahoe, on State Route 88 and it is surrounded by El Dorado National Forest.

Kirkwood is a well known resort for having one of the highest average snowfalls and a big selection of advanced ski terrain, making it perfect for snowboarders. With its open bowls, long gullies, chutes and rock drops, Kirkwood resort can be considered as a huge natural fun park.

Freestyle Park, which was made by snowboarders on 1995/96 attracts many riders. The park has tabletop jumps, a large spine jump, quarter pipes, a half pipe and a snake. Snowboard center has over 350 snowboards and 500 pairs of boots available for renting, including the latest technology for snowboarding. If you are a beginner, snowboard instructions are available for all levels.Kirkwood hosts a lot of snowboard events.

It has 65+ runs total, of which 15% for beginners, 50% for intermediate and 35% for advanced snowboarders. Longest run is 2.5 mi/4 km. The lift system has 15 lifts with 2 high speed quads, 6 triple chairs, 2 surface lifts, 1 tubing lift, 1 fixed-grid quad, 1 double chair and 2 magic carpets.

Terrain parks are Burton Progression Park, Border X Course, Burton Adventure Land and K2 Stomping Grounds. Snowfall is about 500 in/1270 cm.
