Is it possible to enjoy a kite-surfing session in the middle of Germany? Paradoxically, it is!!! South Beach is situated only at 20 min away from the Düsseldorf downtown, in the Unterbracher See. This particularly extraordinary spot is just ideal for kite-surfing.
The beach is long, fun and sandy and you will find a lovely sun terrace where you can enjoy a refreshing drink and forget that you are just outside Düsseldorf! The lake’s length is 2.5 km /1.9 mi, offering exceptional water quality. Wind is another asset of the lake as, in its best form, it blows from the southeast and west-southwest with an average speed of 4 knots (7.5 kph).
The average air temperature ranges between 4-17°C/39.2-62.6°F, depending on the season. Due to its popularity, the beach can get really crowded with many athletes and swimmers, occupying the beach! If you are a novice kitesurfer or don’t have the proper equipment at the beach, you can easily find everything you need as there are schools and shops to help you out. It is a beautiful beach that you will definitely enjoy!
