Leucate is a commune, situated in the department of Aude in the region Languedoc-Roussillon, France. It is located at 130km/80mi in the south east of Montpellier, however still a thrilling destination of the Mediterannean Sea for kitesurfing enthusiasts.

Leucate-Plage is a big sandy beach that everyone should visit. Thanks to its favorable climatic conditions, the spot is considered as the best place for practicing kitesurfing and for holding international kitesurfing competitions.

If you are a kitesurf enthusiast, Leucate-Plage is the place to be! A place with friendly atmosphere, stunning beaches and impressive events. The spot offers flat type water and chop with 12-18 °C / 54-64 °F water temperature. The best period to visit this spot is from April to August.

The main wind is Tramontane blowing from northwest with 35 kn / 40 mph speed. The other wind type is Marin, which blows from SE and works very well for this beach. The flat type wind makes this spot suitable for both experts and novices of kitesurfing. You will find many kitesurfing schools and shops in Leucate from where you can rent the appropriate gear.
