Located at 10 km/6 mi in the south of Diani Beach and 50 km/31 mi from Mombasa town, Chale island is romantically isolated, lying at 600 m/1968 ft from the main land.

The spot is appropriate for all levels of divers. The average depth here is at 9 m/29.5 ft and the maximum depth is at 10 m/32.8 ft. Visibility rate is medium at around 5 m/16.4 ft long or more and it can be dived all year long. Water temperature is up to 21°C/69.8°F in summer and early autumn months and between 14-18°C/57.2-64.4°F in winter.
To dive the site from the shore, drive to end of Fishermans road and park in the parking area above the boat ramp, walk along the rock platform right out to the point and then around to the east.
Expect to see the whole engine where you can swim around it, a large propeller, mast supports, bollards and other pieces of wreck throughout the area. Apart from the wreck, divers may come across with huge numbers of bream, yellow-tail and other fish.
