Clovelly beach is located in between Bronte beach to the north and Gordon’s bay to the south. Clovelly pool is a natural rock pool on the southern side of the beach . This is one of the best and safest snorkeling sites in the Sydney region, as it is easy and protected in most conditions. It is suitable for novice snorkelers who need to improve their technique.
The pool is up to 8 m/26.2 ft deep and visibility rate is excellent, around 10 m/32 ft. Water temperature is up to 21°C/69.8°F in summer and early autumn months and between 14-18°C/57.2-64.4°F in winter. Snorkelers will have the opportunity to witness an amazing marine life.
Expect to come across giant cuttlefish, blue groper, moray, small rays, yellowtail, Port Jackson sharks, sole, old wives and plenty of schooling fish. Best period to visit the spot is during the winter months. For the more adventurous snorkelers, Clovelly pool is an excellent night dive site.
