Tamarama beach is a reef break that has dependable surf. The best wind direction is from the west, southwest and the ideal swell direction is from the southeast, east. Surfers can explore the waves with swell sizes from 3 ft /1 m to 8 ft / 2.5 m. The best tide movement is rising tide.
The spot is appropriate for experienced surfers. In summer the wind blows offshore at 14%, in autumn the wind blows at 28%, in winter at 35% and in spring at 21%. There is a sand filled valley behind the spot with a park and picnic areas. Watch out for undertow, rocks and rips. Note: it is crowded during weekends, so be patient.
