The waters are very calm in the eastern part of the island since the western part is more exposed to the open ocean reefs and currents.
Light kayaking groups leave usually from the Port Victoria Jetty so as to cover a distance of 10 km/6 mi to reach the island. The itinerary is recommended for advanced practitioners as it is covered almost 20 km/12 mi of kayaking for an aller-retour kayak trip. Alternatively you can kayak from Point Pierce where the distance to Wardang Island is shorter than 5 km/3 mi.
