Mount Stuart is the highest summit of the Stuart Range, the seventh highest peak in Washington State and the second highest non volcanic mountain. Located in the Cascade Mountains, stands at 9415 ft/2869 m high and is visible from almost all central Cascade summits around it.
The easiest and most popular route is the Cascadian Couloir. It is a long snow gully, with no technical difficulties, suitable for all skill climbers with a good physical condition. In order to approach the mountain, you follow the Ignalls Creek Trail that leads you to the bottom of the route. Down low, the terrain is sandy and pebbly and as you climb higher, the scenery changes and becomes alpine with rocks and large boulders.
Once you reach the top, you can admire outstanding views of the surrounding peaks, lakes and river valleys of the Stuart Range. Cascadian Couloir mountain climb can be achieved in one day, but in order to experience a true outdoor adventure, it is best to spend the night over and enjoy nature. Take with you a helmet, sun glasses, sunscreen and 2-3 nalgene bottles. If you visit Mount Stuart in early season you will need an ice axe and crampons.
