Clark Mountain is one of the highest peaks in the North Cascades, located in the White River Valley. The top elevation of the mountain is at 8576 ft/2613 m high and is suitable for climbing from all year long. In order to approach the Southeast Slope of the mountain, you hike up to the Boulder Creek Trail and from there, you follow the Y Basin trail that leads you to the Southeast peak of Clark Mountain.
It is a rocky mountain, surrounded by icy carvings providing some good scramble climbing on the way to the summit. Once you reach the top, the views of the Cascade Range, Glacier Peak and the surrounding summits are amazing. Clark Mountain, although remote, is a popular destination for mountain climbers and can be reached in one day. For those who want to experience a true outdoor adventure, they can spend the night over camping just about anywhere. If you visit the mountain in early season, take an ice axe and crampons with you.
