Wanaka is a small town in Central Otago in the South Island of New Zealand, situated on the south side of Lake Wanaka.

The town is surrounded by the awe-inspiring Southern Alps, with spectacular mountains such as the Crown Range, Haast Pass, Roys Peak and Pisa Range and is close to Mount Aspiring National Park (World Heritage Area). Despite the mountainous landscape, the climate is considered to be continental, with fairly warm summers and temperatures that can reach up to 25°C/77°F, and cold winters with frequent snowfalls.

Mount Aspiring (9950 ft/3033 m high), also known as Tititea, lies inside Mt Aspiring National Park. It consists one of the best destination for mountain climbing lovers, offering several routes to the top, most of them with technical difficulties.

The most common route is through the northwest ridge (the southwest ridge is for the more experienced climbers). At 5905 ft/1800 m, you will meet Colin Todd Hut where you can rest, warm up next to the fireplace and have something to eat. Experience the ultimate adventure and feel the thrill of climbing and exploring the magnificent Mt Aspiring, dedicating your mind and body 100%. Bear in mind that it is a demanding expedition, and that excellent physical state is required.
