Chiwawa Mountain is located in the Cascade Range and is the 64th highest mountain in Washington State. The top elevation of the peak is at 8459 ft/2578 m high and is suitable for climbing from July to September. In order to approach Chiwawa Mountain, hike the Buck Creek Trail and then follow the Red Mountain Trail, leading you to the Chiwawa Basin.
The mountain has one of the most well known summits in the area, because of the Lyman Glacier. It is an easy climb, with no technical difficulties, suitable for all skill levels. The Chiwawa summit can be reached in one day, but for the most adventurous climbers, this route can be combined with Fortress Mountain Climb, as a two days trip. Camping is allowed in the beautiful Chiwawa Basin, which is an alpine meadow with unspoiled nature, surrounded by high ridges. If you visit the mountain in early season, take an ice axe and crampons with you.
