Mombasa Marine Park & Reserve is located along the east coast of Kenya. The marine park covers an area of 6 mi/10 km (around 2,500 ac/10.12 km²) and the reserve a massive area of 124 mi/200 km square (around 49,400 ac/199.91 km²). Since it is located close to most of all the touristic areas, its beaches are one of the most visited and a great deal of activities take place at the same time.

The Brain Coral is a repeater for many divers. The Brain Coral dive site is within 20 minutes drive and has a maximum depth of 62 ft/19 m and visibility stands at an average of 39 ft/12 m. Located at the outer reef, it accommodates open water divers.

The spot begins with a drift over a some some soft corals, amongst them the Hemprich and the Leafy soft corals and a dome of pore coral resembling a brain hence the name. Water temperatures are at 24-30°C/75.2 – 86°F.

Marine life here includes bat fish, potato grouper and clown trigger fish among others.
