The swell sizes usually start from less than 1 – 1.5 m/3 – 5 ft and hold up to 4 m/12 ft. The best tide position is low and mid tide and the ideal tide movement is falling tide. In addition, the wind blows from the south, southwest and the best swell direction is from the north, northwest. The reef break provides both left and right hand waves, though lefts are probably the best choice. Keep in mind that the spot is usually crowded during weekends.
There are many surf schools and shops available in the area, where you can book lessons or rent gear. Last but not least, if you find yourself here, do not miss the opportunity to visit the Cueva del Indio, which is located close to the beach. Cueva del Indio is a cave inside a huge rock, where you can see a significant collection of Taino Indians petroglyphs on the walls. Note: be careful of sea urchins, rocks and rips.
