El Unico, located near San Juan, is a popular beach break that provides the right conditions for surfers and body-boarders. On a good day, it can offer epic drops and wipe-outs. On this site, swell sizes start from less than 1 m/3 ft and hold up to 2.5 m/8 ft.
The wind blows from the south, southeast and the best swell direction is from the north, northwest. In addition, the best tide position is low and mid tide and the ideal tide movement is rising tide. Bear in mind that you will have a lot of competition for waves here, as it is usually crowded with many surfers and body-boarders. The spot is suitable for all skill levels.
It is advisable to park your car in a visible place, as theft incidents have occurred. Apart from water-sports, do not miss the opportunity to visit one of the many sites of interest in San Juan, especially the Catedral de San Juan, which is the second oldest cathedral in the Western Hemisphere. Note: be careful of pollution, rips and localism.
