South of New Orleans, in Belle Chasse you will come across a 300 ac/1.21 km² off road park, perfect to host your quad bike. Plaquemines Offroad Park offers 15 mi/24.1 km of marked, not rated and lightly maintained trails, twisting through mixed Oak and Cypress forest, a couple of mud bogs and two MX tracks.
The urban/man–made terrain has an elevation of around 10 ft/3 m and offers anything an off road devotee wishes for. Hard pack in most parts, loose dirt, sand, mud, dust, rocks, trees, many small and large jumps, some berms and some single tracks.
The park opens daily, but it closes in frequent base due to inclement weather, so it is highly recommended that you call before you decide to visit the park or just visit the forum, which is updated with the latest news. Hazards are few and assumed to be marked, but still drive with caution.
Trails are mostly suitable for amateurs, but novices can enjoy the trails too. There are no trails made for experts, so if you are a high level driver, you should find another park to ride your machine. Bear in mind that a helmet is required for all riders. Camping is permitted and free and so is riding, but keep in mind that the camping area is primitive, so be well prepared.
This amazing off road park is very popular in the New Orleans area and it is recommended to spend at least a full day, in order to enjoy pure dust riding on your ATV.
