From the experienced surfer to the complete novice, Inchydoney beach is a superb spot for water-sport enthusiasts. It is located in the heart of West Cork and it is a sheltered beach break that provides good surf at all stages of the tide.
The optimum wind direction is from the north and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest. The location offers both left and right hand waves. Surfers are able to explore the waves with swell sizes that can start from 1 m/3 ft and hold up to 2 m/6 ft. In addition, the best tide movement is rising tide and the ideal tide position is all tides. In summer, the wind blows offshore at 24%, in autumn the wind blows at 20%, in winter at 21% and in spring at 24%.
