The most important distinctive features of Chalkida is the marbelous castle of Karababa, at the hill of Kanithos and the bridge of Evripos.
The direction of the water changes every six hours, with an intermediate stagnation for one hour. The bridge opens up when the water of tide brings the water upstream. Inside the old bridge, there is a nice cafeteria. Enjoy the view, clean up your mind and leave everything behind you. If you like the bridges, then you can visit the new one, which unite the city of Chalkida with the Greek mainland.
If you are a mountain bike fun, then Chalkida can give you this experience. The route length is about 25 km/15.5 mi, with minimum elevation at 2 m/6.5 ft and maximum at 321 m/1052.8 ft. The altitude difference of the ascent and descent is 514 m/1686 ft. The difficulty level is moderate. So, take your bike and feel the adrenaline while enjoying the wild beauty of nature.
There is a school with experts, in case you need to improve your skills. You can also find mountain bike shops, in case you don’t have the equipment.
