The meeting point of all windsurfing enthusiasts is definitely the famous Lake Neusiedl in Podersdorf am See, where the annual windsurf international competition takes place once a year. Apart from the event’s period, this place hosts many windsurf junkies at any period of the year.
Being a place with right conditions for this activity, you shouldn’t miss visiting it for the world! The spot is addressed mainly to beginner windsurfers, as the lake is only 1.5 m / 5 ft deep, which means that it creates shallow waters. The lake is about 285 km² / 110 mi². In late summer the water temperature is about 26 °C / 79 °F.
The wind has two directions. During summer months it blows from the south or southwest and when it does, it is better to visit the place called Weiden. When it blows from the north or west, you should visit Podersdorf. Whichever you choose, no worries, both are served by windsurf schools as well as rental shops.
Now that you found the place that will fulfill all your needs, get a move on and visit it as soon as possible!
