Surfing at Tolcarne Beach is a really worthwhile experience. Riding the waves and facing the Atlantic is undoubtedly exhilarating. Tolcarne Wedge, as it is also known, provides with a pretty consistent surf that can work at any season of the year. It is a quite exposed beach break that offers good surf conditions during all the stages of the tide.
The ideal swell direction is from the west and there is a mix of wind-swells and groundswells, with groundswells being the most common. The beach breaks left and right and offshore winds blow from south and southeast. The highest temperature of the water is around in the middle of August and the coldest period is around early March. Suitable wetsuits are necessary during the cold period. When the surf is up, it is unlikely to be crowded.
