Queenstown is considered by many as the capital of extreme sports. It is situated in Otago region, in the South Island, New Zealand, and is surrounded by Lake Wakatipu and the awe-inspiring Southern Alps.

Shotover River begins its course from the Southern Alps and runs through the magnificent Skippers Canyon before it merges with Kawarau River. Shotover River extends up to 37 mi/60 km and has many rapids, twists and turns. It is the ideal river for more experienced rafters who wish to taste great amounts of adrenaline.

Enjoy the thrilling feeling of fighting with the waters during the numerous rapids. After having admired the spectacular Skippers Canyon, the challenge completes with the breathtaking 557 ft/170 m long Oxenbridge Tunnel and the Cascade Rapid. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit and a towel with you!

Grade river: 3-5. If you wish to enjoy rafting, you can choose one of the rafting companies based in Queenstown. Hotel pick-up can be arranged, if required. Note: During winter, you can access the river only by helicopter.
