Dombay is an urban locality situated in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, in Russia. The administrative jurisdiction of the resort settlement is the town of republic significance of Karachayevsk. The locality is situated in the Teberda Nature Reserve (Teberdinskiy zapovednik) and is a popular tourist destination.

Dombay Ski Resort is one of the most popular ski resorts of the Caucasus. Every year it attracts all kind of winter athletes. Cross country skiers will have a blast on the wonderful trails of Dombay.

The resort has a unique location, surrounded by beautiful mountains and it is situated on one of the most breathtaking mountains of the world. It is ideally placed at the confluence of the rivers Dombay-Ulgen, Amanauz and Alibek, creating lovely winter landscapes for the cross country skiers.

The healing properties of clean air and the number of sunny days make Dombay surpass many world known ski resorts. The cross country trails vary in level of difficulty and cover a huge terrain of 157.9 mi/254.1 km.

The elevation of the trails is between 2844 ft/867 m and 6850 ft/2088 m with an uphill elevation gain of 15679 ft/4779 m and a downhill elevation gain of 14.856 ft/4528 m.

Keep in mind that warm clothes are essential, as temperatures are very low. The magnificent snowy vistas along with the perfect cross country trails make this experience a must do every winter.
