Maroochydore beach is an exposed beach break that provides both left and right hand waves. The spot is popular with surf schools, beginners and more experienced surfers. Here you are able to explore the waves with swell sizes that can start from less than 1 m/3 ft and hold up to 2.5 m/8 ft. The best wind direction is from the southwest and the ideal swell direction is from the east, southeast. The average water temperature is around 28°C/82.4°F in summer and around 20°C/68°F in winter.
In addition, the best tide movement is rising and falling tides and the ideal tide position is mid and high tide. In summer, the wind blows offshore at 8%, in autumn the wind blows at 23%, in winter at 39% and in spring at 12%. Keep in mind that it is a crowded site. Last but not least, Maroochydore beach offers a variety of facilities to visitors, including the Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club, which is one of the oldest in Queensland. Note: be careful of rips and rocks.
