Tabbagai Gap or the Cutting, is another great shore dive in the Kurnell National Park. This is a shore dive for divers who are very comfortable with their ability to long surface swim. The average depth here is at 18 m/59.1 ft and the maximum depth is at 24 m/78.7 ft. Visibility is good and ranges from 10 m/33 ft to 30 m/98.4 ft long. The spot is suitable for experienced divers only, due to its depth and the difficulty of the entry/exit point.
Water temperature is up to 21°C/69.8°F in summer and early autumn months and between 14-18°C/57.2-64.4°F in winter. This spot can only be dived during August when westerly winds are blowing.
Divers may come across wobbegongs, Port Jackson sharks, southern eagle rays, giant cuttlefish, bull rays, moray eel, blue groper, schools of yellowtail, catfish as well as a wide range of nudibranch.
Do not attempt an entry when you can see white waters along the cliff. Last but not least, you are required to pay an entry fee to the park.
