Shark Cage diving in Gaansbai is carried out through out the year, weather dependent. Shark presence is almost guaranteed, due to the abundance existence of the Cape Fur Seal colony, which is believed to count up to 30.000! Water temperatures here range between 12-18°C/53.6-64.4°F. Divers take turns in the cage with each one getting in for a period of 15-20 minutes.
Visibility is normally between 4-6 m/13-19 ft although it can get at 15 m/49 ft long. Shark cage diving here is best conducted on the month of May through October. No experience is really needed but advance booking is necessary due the limited number of maximum pax required.
