Long Reef beach is an ideal surf site as it is partly protected by an offshore reef. This spot is an exposed reef break that has dependable surf at all stages of the tide.
Surfers can explore the waves with swell sizes from 1 m/3 ft to 2.5 m/8 ft. The best tide movement is rising and falling tides. Offshore winds blow from the west and the best swell direction is from the southeast. In summer the wind blows offshore at 15%, in autumn the wind blows at 35%, in winter at 50% and in spring at 23%.
The beach is appropriate for advanced surfers and can work at any time of the year. The average water temperature is about 21ºC/69.80ºF. It is a crowded spot, especially in weekends, so be patient. Watch out for rocks, rips and locals.
