Collaroy beach is a long extended sand beach which provides with excellent surf conditions. Surfers can explore the waves with swell sizes from 3 ft (1 m) to 8 ft (2.5 m). The best tide movements is rising and falling tides. The beach is appropriate for experienced surfers.
Offshore winds blow from the southwest and the best swell direction is from the northeast. In summer the wind blows offshore at 12%, in autumn the wind blows at 14%, in winter at 10% and in spring at 9%. The ideal period for surfing is in autumn.
The average water temperature is about 21°C/69.8°F. Watch out for rocks, rips, buoys and pollution.
Note: the beach gets crowded during weekends.
Lossie East Beach is situated close to Moray Firth. This beach is suitable for surfing at all times.
