Frenchman Coulee is a favorite destination for rock climbers during summer. It is also a fantastic hike for those who prefer more horizontal lands. The trail is 4mi/6.4km long, out and back, about three hours hike, with minimal elevation gain. Frenchman Coulee is one of the many geological wonders in the area, caused by the big floods, after the Ice Age.
The trail leads you through the towering walls around a valley, filled with wildflowers and sage. At the beginning of the trail, you hike near a waterfall, only running during spring and there is where you find the most amazing flowers. You can hike this trail, all year round, but the best time is during spring. Frenchmans Coulee is an interesting and rewarding hike for nature enthusiasts, suitable for all skill levels.
