Mount Shasta is inside Shasta – Trinity National Forest and the second highest volcano in the Cascade Range. Mount Shasta is perfect for horseback riding. The Pacific Crest Trail goes through the country in an east – west direction. It is allowed to ride a horse on it, but bikes or motorized vehicles are prohibited.
Trail rides last about 1 ½ hours and offer magnificent view of Mt. Shasta and around. There are also full day trips available. One of the full day rides suggested, is an excursion in the backcountry, planed by both you and the stable. If you want to have an even more intensive experience, there is a full day ride through the mountains, including many trails along rivers and past waterfalls.
You can also have riding lessons at the Rockin Maddy Ranch. The instructors are very well trained and will help you with everything you need. In all lessons you will learn basic horse anatomy, cleaning tack, western riding, proper saddling and bridling, bathing and clipping the horses, balance and bareback riding.
