Masella is a ski resort in the Pyrenees mountains, belonging to Alp’s municipality, in Girona. It lies on La Tossa d’Alp mountain. The temperature varies from 1°C to 15°C/33.80°F to 59°F throughout the year, with February being the coldest month. With 457 snow cannons, it’s open about five months per season for all winter sports. The forest extends along at 80% of its pistes and at 90% on the face north. Masella ski resort provides about 74 km/46 mi of total usable terrain, most of it in the wilderness.
There are a lot of routes to follow, either inside the resort or the surrounding area. You can follow the Olimpica piste and through the forest to La Molina resort. A moderate route is from Masella to Refugi Niu d’ Aliga and back, about 8 km/5 mi long, ideal to learn Masella and the area. For beginners, an easy one is to Tossa and back, a 17 km/10.5 mi route passing by Puigllancada.
