Los Tubos is situated in Manati, a municipality on the north coast of Puerto Rico. Los Tubos provides excellent wave quality and welcomes intermediate and more experienced surfers.
The swell sizes usually start from 1 m – 1.5 m /3 – 5 ft and hold up to 4 m/12 ft. The best tide position is mid and high tide and the ideal tide movement is rising tide. The wind blows from the south, southeast and the best swell direction is from the north, northwest. The surf site provides both left and right hand waves, though lefts are probably the best choice. It should be mentioned that the spot is usually crowded with locals and other surfers.
There are many surf schools and shops available in the area, where you can book lessons or rent gear. Last but not least, if you get tired struggling with the waves, then you should visit one of the many historical sites in San Juan, especially the Catedral de San Juan, which is the second oldest cathedral in the Western Hemisphere. Note: be careful of sea urchins.
