Ponta Do Ouro is the southern most village in Mozambique and is a popular holiday destination. It lies on the Mozambique Channel, southern of Maputo and just northern of the border with South Africa. Ponta Do Ouro boasts pristine beaches and is well known for its long stretches of white beaches. There are no tarred roads, therefore it is only accessible by 4x4 vehicles.

Ponta Do Ouro hosts a variety of dive sites. Breathtaking underwater life is an undergarment until experienced!!! Amongst the dive sites, there is the Pinnacles dive site which is a notable reef with abundant shark activity due to the existence of large schools of game fish and other reef fish.

The spot is located at 4 km/2.4 mi off-shore and an average visibility standing at 20 m/65 ft and a maximum of 40 m/131 ft. Water temperatures here range between 24-29°C/75.2-84.2°F and no experience is needed to attempt shark diving.

The shark species expected here are the whale and bull sharks which can be seen all year round while the hammerhead sharks’ season is between May and October.
